Posted by vulkanische on September 11, 2008
Its been 20 days since i landed in Trivandrum.Stayin at tcs executive hostel, which has met most of my expectations. First day we few guys had a walk to nearby place(kazhakuttam). Then training started on next day, everything went on fine. 4 days passed, then we had 4 day holiday(due to rain + water loggin). At that time went to film (daam doom). It was quite interestin the way we asked people way for that theatre as many didn know english or tamil(only which v know)but finally we reached it. Then to say about food here, ate one afternoon the big kerala rice,it was diff experience:), one of my friend couldn eat it, and he wasted the whole meals(ordered another dish!!). Then we guys are havin chappathi only most of the time. its being like in northern India:(..In company canteen some days lunch wil be not havin meals, so on that day we have to eat chappathi(almost every night, only chappathi at hostel).

Comparison b/w the two genders ages for million years but still it remains afresh. today i went out wit one of my dad’s friend to get sign from a notary. after that returned to his home for lunch. he said to his neighbor that his son(aged 5yrs) is so quite and he is like a gal. for that the neighbor replied, asking not to say so(as a gal)but say as present day boys nu.on hearing this v were shocked initially.thn the neighbor said few reasons for why she said so,and v too thought those were valid ones.at that time suddenly one forward msg came to my mind”all men are not fools, some stay bachelors. women are not fools, most of them have boyfriends”..

Beijing’08-best olympics for India
Posted by vulkanische on August 20, 2008
Hope celebrations are going through out the country as a bronze medal in wrestling and another medal in boxing(may be gold:))is on the list. this is one of the best day in Indian history as two medals are assured on same day-first of its kind. I saw Sushil kumar wrestling against USA opponent, which he won comfortably(seeing such a game for first time). Thn was awaiting to c Jitendar’s match at 4.45pm. But the Russian opponent once again proved he is too good for the Indian as he won easily and brought disappointment to millions of Indians(who were hopin for a win after Akhil kumar lost a day back).two hours passed and another match started, now its Vijender kumar. match started and from beginning he looked confident and as match progressed the lead too progressed. i felt really excited and was eagerly checking the scoreboard to check that the lead is maintained.finally he won and qualified for semifinals, thus assuring third medal for India. For quite a few years(since 1996) India have been winning only one medal in each of the olympics, and finally that jinx had been broken this year. its also for first time in history of olympics India winning three medals in a single olympics. i saw a poll in one of the site regarding”whether India would compete for top position in next olympics”, and i voted for YES(though its hard to achieve in next one). lets hope this happens in near future itself.

blessing in disguise

During festival days and some other special days tv channels wil be telecastin some interesting programs. i too was awaiting to see them on last friday(on our independence day). But due to some miscalculations we didn know that dish validity would be over on that day. so wen we switched on our tv, no channels wer available and i really felt very bad as tv was my major time pass for past few weeks. in disgust i was simply checking some of the channels(with slightest of hopes that some channel should come), i found dd sports was available.later found all dd channels were available. so throughout the day could see only olympic games in tv. as time went it was quite nice to see different games in a single day wit such intensity. other than cricket hardly i see any sports as here(chennai) all sports channel are termed as pay channel:(.i thought this was a god made thing as especially on festive days we wuld be switching on diff tamil channels only.saw various games ranging from boxing to badminton saw many games.as its impact seeing olympic games regularly for past 2 days
. now eagerly expectin the boxing matches(as 3 indians have entrered quarter finals in3 categories).hope all 3 of them would accompany bindra by winning a medal(gold probably):).

a diff day

Today went wit my friends to abirami mall.had seen an advert in paper 2 days ago sayin that there is a shop in this mall which sells good cotton clothes at cheaper prices. but to my disappointment there was no good collection of formal dresses or t-shirts.thn purchased a tommy hilfiger t shirt in one of the nearby shop. finally returned to home in afternoon. in evening went to repair my sister’s cycle. in that shop there were 2 guys aged around 22-25. many humorous incidents occurred during tht 20 mins time. One person came wit his child and cycle to that shop for filling air. one of the guy on seein taht kid said he too was smart during childhood and felt that of late he became like what he is at present(the other guy culdn reply, only laughed). later after 5 mins he saw the calendar and said he looked smart in his younger days as the child was in that calendar. the other person couldn bear those comments and commented”dai unaku yaen da ipdi lam ninapu pogudu, ena achu”(y thinking lik this and all, what happened to u man)..v all were laughing only on hearing those things. then comes another interesting incident. 2 gals aged around 15 came to that shop for filling air. one of the guy(not the smart one:)) did and got money. he said he felt somewhat uneasy while collecting money. an elder person(a known person to them) came to that shop and said to that guy that while working our aim and interest should be in work only and should no let our mind wander:). that guy said some dialogues sayin that they should not allow this man to that or shop, or he should not be working while this man is there:).though it might not be much humorous on reading this, but it was nice when it took place.

to be proud at or not???

First of all my hearty congratulations to Abhinav Bindra for winning first individual gold medal for India.i didn see the game but came to know from my friends who messaged about this result. when i switched on tv, all channels were saying abt him, and news channel were talking about him only continuously(indeed its gr8 achievement).felt happy on seeing it and at same time i was wondering about another sad fact. that is China is leading the medals table and v(India) who being strong competitor to them in regards to being more populated country, but striving hard to find a place in medals table.we are much contended in winning a medal(happy with even a single one). y this difference, v have lots of resources, v have lots of well trained people and above all lots of talented young people. but we couldn produce great champions in olympic games. My age and experience doesnt allow me to speak about why things are like these, and so i can show only my sympathy towards my country.lots of money are spent for cricket(ers) only, thought its not completely wrong one but it will be better if other sports too are welcomed and supported in a good way.only then we can produce world class sportsmen.lets hope one day that we will be topping the medals table:).

nhk world
Posted by vulkanische on August 12, 2008
Though i am bit weak in history i always love to see some old footages, as those couldn be seen often.History channel is not available here and i miss it as i have heard lots of good programs are telecasted in it. v have dish in our home and in it lots of unknown channel are there(other languages). wen i was changing the channels i went through one of the channel named nhk world, they were speaking in japanese i suppose(but subtitle was available in english:)). then only i came to know that the program was a document like thing on effects of hiroshima bomb blast. they said what happened and interviewed few of the survivors. those people said their experiences and it was terrible to hear.yesterday they showed interview wit survivors of nagasaki bombings. they said who was behind this attack, why this city was chosen(seems this was not initial target) and also center of attack along with marking of 2 schools less than a km away from the place of attack(thousands of school children died in both schools).they interviewed among those survivors from that schools . each had some problems that were unusual(lik one had no ear, another had only one leg and most of them had their skin burnt at many places)was really horrible to see it itself..its hard to imagine how those people lived with those until now..really felt pity for them..one man said he was not treated properly and was used to take video of him for study about the effects of bombing on humans..he didnt complain thinking it would ha e adverse effects on him.like this, program continued and it showed some photos after bombing and so on.really was moved by it,made me to feel the sense of war and its disastrous effects.

A memorable day
Posted by vulkanische on August 9, 2008
‘88888 lights out campaign’ took place in chennai as a way of creating awareness regarding global warning. chennaities were asked to switch off the lights for 8 minutes on 8th hour on 08-08-08. i am proud to say that my family took part in this campaign as we switched off lights in our house at the time mentioned. similar program has been conducted in Sydney, London and in Mumbai too, and the results have shown considerable amount of greenhouse reduction. Then it was the inaugural day of olympics in China.i missed to see the beautiful opening ceremony that was telecasted in dd.hope that in this olympics India wins a gold medal. Then comes the important reason for which i said it was a memorable day,got call from TCS:).training starts on 27th of this month at trivandrum..its been nearly three months since i had finished college, and am eagerly awaiting for the start of ILP.

msg to space!!!
Posted by vulkanische on July 31, 2008
We use different methods for communication. We sms through phones, we send e-mails,greetings and so on.But these all have proper reciepients(either known one or an unknown person).but is it possible to send message to a place where we are not quite sure about the location and even of the reciepient??yeah with the help of Bebo(social n/w ing site) its possible, that is we can send message to space:):)(its quite astonishing, isn’t it?).An interstellar radio telescope normally used to detect asteroids that could hit Earth is being taken off duty Oct 9 to transmit messages from Bebo users into space. The messages are expected to reach a recently discovered planet in 2029(takes nearly 20 years to reach!!). They will be sent from a telescope of the Russian National Space Agency in Ukraine.Seems users can send messages and 500 best messages among them will be selected by Bebo users to be sent into space. This project is named as A Message From Earth and the target planet is Gliese 581c.It is found that the temperature in Gliese 581c is right for liquid water on its surface, thus potentially capable of supporting life as we know it.
It would be nice to receive a msg from that side too:).
